A gustatory experience and historic discoveries await you.

 

VISIT THE BAUX DE PROVENCE

Built on a 245 m high rocky spur, an immense stone fortress will rise up in front of you.

This village represents, without a doubt, a not-to-be-missed site to visit in the Alpilles Natural Park.

It is classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France.

 

YOU WILL THEN SAMPLE THE OLIVE OIL FROM THE VALLEY OF THE BAUX DE PROVENCE,

In one of the mills of the valley, one of the richest  in production bearing the « Appellation d’Origine Controlée” (A.O.C.) label.

 

YOU WILL THEN ENJOY THE WINES OF THE BAUX DE PROVENCE,

In one of the vineyards, in the heart of the Alpilles.

The wine of the valley of les Baux was officially recognized in 1995.

It, too, bears the « A.O.C. » label.

 

YOU WILL CONTINUE  YOUR DISCOVERY TRAVELING TOWARD NIMES, RICH IN ITS GALLO-ROMAN PAST:

You will discover its ancient monuments such as:

The Augustus Gate

It was, in Roman times, the principle entrance to the city and the starting point of the Via Domitia. It is now the only vestige remaining of the Roman city walls.

The Roman amphitheater

Dating from the end of the 1st century A.D, during the great invasions, it served as a fortified village for the inhabitants. In the Middle-Ages it was a place for living.

The Maison Carrée.

Dedicated to the glory of the grandsons of Augustus during its construction in the 1st century A.D., this temple is one of the best preserved of the Roman era.

 

YOU WILL THEN PROCEED TO UZES, A MEDIEVAL CITY PAR EXCELLENT,

Where the first Duchess of France was installed.

You will set out in the quest of this era through its heritage which will testify to the rich past of the city. the « place aux herbes », the Bishop’s Palace, the Duché castle or the Fenestrelle tower.

 

THEN, YOU WILL END BEAUTIFULLY AT THE PONT DU GARD

On the Unesco Registered World Heritage List, it is the best preserved section of the Roman aqueduct which brought drinking water to the city of Nîmes.

 

Day long excursions Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
