Encounters of the 9th Art, The Comic Strip Festival takes place each year in the beautiful Roman
city of Aix en Provence.
This year they open their doors on April 1 to May 14, 2016.

Aix en Provence is a city founded on the ruins of an old Roman house. A spa city, it was appreciated for a long time for its hot water springs. Hometown of Paul Cezanne. Aix en Provence has always inspired artists. Its exposition centers welcome many shows each year whose purpose is to promote art under all its forms.
It was with this in mind that 13 years ago encounters of the 9th art were created, not-to-be-missed meetings of comic strips lovers and more generally graphic arts.
The encounters of the 9th art, a platform of exchange between artists and passionate fans.
The encounters have as their goal to introduce talented cartoonists who have come from all over the world . They are also a platform of exchange between publishers and cartoonists.
The encounters are above all the opportunity for visitors to meet as yet unknown artists, future talents, as well as big names in the field whose work, for some, have marked the history of the comic strip.

The encounters of the 9th art do not limit themselves to the Parc des expositions, it is the whole city which is their playground.

LIVE IN FRANDISCO Marcel Schmitz & Thierry Van Hasselt : Marcel Schmitz is the architect of a dreamlike city, all in scotch tape and cardboard, FranDisco. The cartoonist and publisher, Thierry Van Hasselt, finds that it is a good place to live and offers in comic strip form a visit of this pure art work.
