Gilles will welcome you to prepare and enjoy a true family style Bouillabaisse.
He will teach you how to select fish and to make this soup of incomparable taste.
You will enjoy together the dishes accompanied by a white wine from Cassis or a Rosé from Côtes de Provence while sharing some good anecdotes about the city and Provence.
The cooking class will take place in the heart of Marseille in a family apartment.
A bit of country in the center of town thanks to its great terrace nicely flowered and decorated.
Meeting in front of the Marseille Office du Tourisme at 9:30 a.m.
You will start the promenade in the heart of Marseille,
On the « vieux port », meeting Marseille fishermen!
You will select the best fish caught that very morning.
Gilles will show you and explain the various types of fish used in the preparation of the bouillabaisse.
Once the fish are selected you will go to the popular market of the Capucins for vegetables and aromatics.
After a stop at the wine merchant, you will go to Gilles’ apartment,
where the cooking class will take place on the tree-filled terrace.
He will teach you how to make the soup with rock fish and to master the cooking of the various fish with the potatoes.
You will then prepare the Aïoli with olive oil and the garlic from his own garden.
Your table will be set up as it should be and you will eat the result of your efforts together,
in a convivial atmosphere, on the terrace or in the freshness of the interior.
In the afternoon, between 3:00 p.m. and 4 :00 p.m., Gilles will accompany you to the center of town, a few minutes away.
Please note that the walking time will not exceed 50 mn for the whole day.
A roadbook will be given to you to indicate where and when to meet.
