Cooking class with Gilles close to Aix-en-Provence.

Description

You will be immersed in a singular and authentic Provençal atmosphere

You will make typical dishes with the flavors and tastes of Provence.

From selecting a menu and the ingredients which compose it up to the realization and the tasting of its best recipes, you will share a convivial day.

Program / Schedule of the day

Meeting in front the Office de Tourisme of the city.

Gilles will welcome you in his 8 passenger minibus to have you spend an unforgettable day.

 

The day will start with a visit of the Aix-en-Provence market

The history of Aix-en-Provence will be mentioned with the old successive city walls, religious buildings, the Halle aux Grains celebrating the Rhône and the Durance and all its architectural riches.

At the market you will be introduced to local producers and, with Gilles, you will select the best ingredients of the season to make our Provençal dishes.

When leaving Aix-en-Provence, prior to reaching the cooking school, you will discover the Simone Castle.

In crossing the Bridge of the 3 Sautets, immortalized by Cézanne, you will meander along the Arc in the heart of the Montaiguet mountain range.

You will discover the Château Simone, in the heart of exceptional vegetation comprised of oaks, pines, garrigue and vineyards.

Exceptionally, the château will open its doors in order to select the wine of the day.

Then, while going up one of the many forest paths of the mountain range,

You will meet Laurence, goat herder of the Montaiguet in order to obtain some cheeses made fresh that morning (except from November to the end of February when the farm is closed).

Laurence has been there for about 10 years. She takes excellent care of her goats, having named each one of them.

They have benefited from ideal conditions, in the garrigue, to supply her with a high quality milk.

From her long and patient work, Laurence will offer you fresh or matured cheeses that she makes so well. 

Then, you will arrive at the villa Lisette for the cooking school and lunch.

After Gilles has had you discover his house and his Ecological vegetable garden you will start the cooking class during which each can participate according to his/her desire in the preparation of various recipes.

Gilles will share with you his know-how and the knowledge he has acquired across the years as a family cook.

After approximately 2 hours of preparation, you will enjoy together the mouth-watering realizations accompanied by the wine from the chateau Simone.

If you so desire, you can, in the afternoon walk in the Provencal garrigue to discover some of the aromatic plants of Provence.

And finally, return to Aix-en-Provence

In the afternoon, Gilles will drive you back to Aix-en-Provence, across the fragrant forest of Montaiguet.
