The Frégourières trail in the village of Pontevès
Hiking along the Frégourières trail invites visitors to the Provence region to get to grips with some breathtaking scenery. Located at the foot of the mountain known as Petit Bessillon, the trail offers hikers the chance to admire an interesting panorama of vegetation. The different species are illustrated on markers placed along the route. Open all year round, the Frégourières trail is open free of charge to anyone wishing to enjoy this amazing experience.
In general, hikers will proceed as follows when crossing the Frégourières trail: first, they will take the right-hand turn off Rue des Puits, then leave the village along a tarmac road. Next, hikers will follow a path to the left, past the oratory, before entering an undergrowth. Climbing slightly uphill, they will come to the oak tree nicknamed ‘Picornier’. Visitors continue along this path shaded by Austrian pines, which were planted on the site after the forest fire in 1964. Finally, they’ll head downhill towards the village.
The lock path near the village of Correns
The Chemin de l’écluse is a hiking trail in Provence, approximately 6.5 km long. The trail is popular with walkers because of its reasonable difficulty. It takes no less than 2 hours 10 minutes to complete, and starts near the Grande Salle polyvalente ‘La Fraternelle’ in the village of Correns.
With a height difference of 41 m, the Chemin de l’écluse offers visitors the chance to take a walk through the olive groves and vineyards of the small Correns basin, which is fed by the River Argens. This is a great opportunity for wine lovers to sample some of the region’s wines. Wine is one of the region’s top products. Olive oil is also a product of the Correns region, and you’ll have the chance to discover some of it during a cycle tour of Provence.
