Autumn is well and truly here. It’s time to discover all the autumnal flavours of Provence!
This week, we invite you to discover the Châtaignes du Ventoux, as part of the Rando Bistrot organised by the Guides Association and the Bistrot de Pays Association.
The Rando Bistrot, a unique gourmet idea
Randos bistrot is a unique concept that combines three delights:
1: The pleasure of walking in the heart of the Provençal countryside, with professional guides who are all qualified and, above all, passionate.
2: The pleasure of discovering Provence in a shared and convivial atmosphere, thanks to the meeting with local producers and craftsmen, who will take great pleasure in helping you discover their passion.
3: The joy of tasting the flavours of Provence’s terroir, during a gourmet break at the table of a Bistrot de Pays.
A hike to discover the chestnut trees of Mont Ventoux
The walk starts from Saint Trinit, a small village not far from Sault, on the Ventoux plateau.
It’s a great way to discover the sumptuous landscapes of the Ventoux region, from lavender fields in bloom in season to chestnut groves.
It’s also an opportunity to meet the man in charge of a chestnut grove, who will tell you all about his passion for the land and its centuries-old trees.
Chestnuts are very nutritious and have long been a staple of the human diet.
Rich in fibre, they are excellent for your health thanks to their high content of B vitamins, iron and magnesium.
Chestnuts are delicious cooked in a pan with holes in it, or boiled. We’ve all tasted chestnuts roasted over a wood fire at least once.
It’s a sweet, comforting treat that heralds the start of winter and the approach of the festive season!
A time of joy and good cheer for young and old alike.
Plaisirs et Maisons de Provence invites you to stay in one of its holiday rentals in the Ventoux, to take part in this gourmet walk around the Ventoux countryside, between lavender fields, chestnut groves and mountain landscapes.
If you wish, we can also suggest a selection of small local markets where you can sample the delicious Mont Ventoux chestnuts.
