Provence is an extremely fertile land.
It abounds in delicious A.O.C and A.O.P wines, renowned for their taste and quality.
The beautiful sunshine, which is always shining on the region, has a lot to do with it!
Fruit and vegetables always taste better when they’re bursting with sunshine, and the same goes for grapes.
Vineyard tours: instructive and gourmet
Many of Provence’s vineyards open their doors to the general public all year round, but especially during the grape harvest, so that visitors can discover the whole production process behind wine-making.
From tending the vines to harvesting the grapes, and of course the transformation of the fruit into nectar.
These personalised tours, with commentary by the winemakers, are highly instructive. They are usually followed by a tasting of the wines produced by the vineyard, and very often accompanied by delicious local products such as charcuterie and cheeses produced by small local farmers and breeders.
Children are not forgotten, and some vineyards even offer fun workshops on the grape harvest and wine production.
It’s a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy one of Provence’s flagship gastronomic products.
The chefs' harvest in Beaumes de Venise
The Cave de Balma Venitia is a vineyard located on the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, which offer splendid scenery in September.
On Sunday 18 September, the Cave Balma Vénitia is offering you the chance to take part in a day dedicated to gourmet delights: the Vendange des Chefs. The programme includes a walk through the vineyards, learning about the processes involved in good winemaking, tasting some grands crus and, of course, a gourmet meal in the vineyards in the presence of top chefs.
